A few of the items I’ve purchased for the holiday season have arrived. I typically wait to decorate until Thanksgiving but I knew if I didn’t grab the stuff I wanted now, it would sell out.

Each year I add a few new things to our decor and build over time, but generally I keep to a minimal decorating style because my brain can’t handle the clutter.

Here’s a photo of how I styled my garland on the mantel last year, with velvet ribbon and brass bells.

Here’s a list of what I’ll be using to deck the halls in our home this year.

  1. Spools of ribbon – I picked up this pretty red and sage green color spool of ribbon this year and I can’t wait to use it on this vintage brass french horn (similar)!
  2. Brass bells – bells and ribbon are such a simple way to dress up your garland, gifts, really anything. I love these bells for the doors.
  3. Ornaments – We decorate with ornaments that we’ve collected through the years, including the kids’ handmade collection, which I love. This year I picked up some of the velvet ornaments to ground the tree and then we’ll sprinkle the others throughout.
  4. Flameless candles – I love these candles all year long, but they make it especially cozy during the holidays. I love the real flicker option and that I don’t have to worry about open flames in the house.

I hope this helps you add a touch of whimsy to your home this holiday season!
