I signed up for the fall @oneroomchallenge with a verrrrry loose idea (read: no plans, mood board, nothing sourced or purchased, no collabs) of what I’ll be working on. I know it will be a window seat bench with storage in our open concept dining/kitchen space, but beyond that, not a clue. 🙃 But I am very motivated by deadlines. Let’s do this. 👏🏻

I originally used a tension rod to temporarily block all light coming in from the window when I had a newborn, but then I used it to temporarily hang this roman shade to see if I liked it before screwing it in. Turns out it may not be temporary after all!

Would you try this in your home?

Disclaimer: Use at your own risk. These windows are small and the shade isn’t very heavy, so I feel comfortable with this solution for now. Plus these windows are up higher and out of reach from children. I’ll eventually attach them more securely but I thought it could be a good renter-friendly option — especially if you use the shades for looks vs function. 😆

One time while I was creating a reel, I saved the video and my husband looked over and saw me watching an ad. He asked me why I was watching an ad and I said, “You have to watch this ad to save your video. If you pay for the app, you don’t.” And he looked at me like ARE YOU SERIOUS? 🙄, took my phone, and bought me the paid version. “Here’s some of your life back.” 😂

The point is, sometimes you need to invest and spend the $30 for the paid version to work smarter, not harder. Today I’m sharing the tools and software I use to create graphics, edit videos and images, build my website, invoicing, and more.

I’m thinking of dyeing my roman shade because the white isn’t working here. It looks grey against the wall and very cold. But what color should I *attempt* to dye it? I’ve never done this before so it would be a fun little experiment to do together. Also looking for a darker brown pillow to replace the ones on the bed. Tag your favorite pillow shops for me!
