In a desperate attempt to finish our closet by July, I moved my 2yo’s crib into the bunk room to sleep with her big sister. Tonight will be the first night in 7.5 years I haven’t had a child in our room. How many times will I get up tonight? How many days until she moves back in? 🙃

✨ORC Part 2 Reveal ✨

I’ve lived with blank white walls upstairs for s-e-v-e-n years, but NOT ANYMORE! I hung a gallery wall and I could not be more excited to share this reveal with you. I’m so happy that I went with family photos + art. It’s the perfect combo!

Simply Framed #gifted me these beautiful custom frames and helped me design the wall based on what I was looking for: curated and eclectic. I worked with a designer to select frame profiles and she nailed it. I never would have picked gold frames on my own because I’m always afraid they will come across as too “hot” in my home, but when someone else decides for you, it makes it so much easier.

Added a little magazine rack and this sconce to the Reading Nook. I DIY’d this after seeing a similar one for $98 on @anthropologie 😳 — swipe to see the inspo.

I had all of the scraps at home and just picked up a roll of leather. I painted it the same color as the built-ins to connect that color over on the white walls and make the space feel more cohesive. It’ll be fun to swap out books for the kids to discover! 🎥 Look for the reel tomorrow to see how I made it! Plus it has a really cute song. 🤗 Would you try this DIY in your home?

I never understood the rule about multiple lighting sources in a room until now. But serious question, do you ever run into your sconces? I think this is the reason that I have hesitated adding more lighting because the fixtures seem like they stick out from the wall so much. Asking for me because I know someone is going to complain they hit their head one day. 😆

✨ORC Reveal ✨That’s a wrap on my first ORC and the reading nook is done! I am so proud and excited to share the before & afters with you. I can’t believe this space is in my home. And I made it.

If you’ve been here for awhile, you know that I started preparing for the ORC several months before it started, in January. I set some goals for 2022 and one of them was to participate in the ORC (✅) but I knew this time of year would be so busy, so I started researching and planning months before.

This project means a lot more to me than just updating a space. I started ORC in the middle of a full gut closet reno (that is still in progress and wreaking havoc on our home), a job transition for my husband (we had to adjust our schedules/expectations/managing life, and while full time parenting and freelancing. I only worked on it during nap time and mornings, if Brandon was off that day. My girls saw the project through from start to finish. They witnessed all of the work and love that goes into creating these spaces for our family to enjoy. Working on this nook was my “me time”. This nook is just as much for me as it is for my girls/family.

I’m going to end this here for now, but I still have so much to say about everything, in time. Thank you for supporting me through the last eight weeks, sharing your ideas, and cheering me on!
