Making Our Home a Place We Want to Be

Hi, I’m Tiffany and this is a blog dedicated to documenting the adventures of making our home a place we want to be.

Our home is our family and our safe place. It’s where we eat meals together, laugh together, play together, and grow together.

Our home is a place that we want to be warm, welcoming, and cozy. Kids live here, so while we want it to be beautiful, it also needs to be comfortable and functional, too.

Our home is a place we want to share with friends and that includes you.

I am a lifestyle photographer and front-end web designer with previous experience in digital marketing and public relations. I’ve found that building websites is similar to DIY — both require research, planning, trial and error, and the finishing details to make projects shine.

My goal in this space is to share our journey — to encourage you, to motivate you, to cheer you on. We’re mostly figuring things out as we go, but enjoying the process along the way. Remember, home takes time, so don’t be afraid to take that first step.

Thank you for being here.

Taking the First Step

Two years ago I decided I wanted to build a floating frame for a canvas I had painted over. It seemed like a good first DIY project to learn how to use power tools.

It didn’t turn out great. The measurements were off and the frame didn’t fit the canvas. But I tried. I learned how to use a miter saw. I sort of learned about making miter cuts.

Then Brandon and I decided to try to build bunk beds for the girls. We borrowed a table saw and asked Home Depot to make cuts at the store. Over the course of five weeks, we finished our first woodworking project. We were super proud (still are) of what we built with the tools and knowledge we had at the time.

Now, looking back, we see so many things that we could have improved on. We learned about the importance of squaring off your wood, making sure your blades are straight, and so on. We watched a lot of tutorials. Tried. Failed. Tried again.

Each time we failed, we learned something new. And we carried that knowledge to our next project.

Take the first step.

You’ll be amazed at what will happen next.

Take a peek behind the screen

If you want to see more of what’s behind the screen, join our monthly newsletter. Knowing me, I should probably call it a quarterly newsletter.

Either way, this newsletter will be casual, a quick “hey” from a friend (you don’t even have to respond!), sharing updates on what we’re up to, our favorite links and must-try products, and the latest on our home reno projects. Plus, you’ll get the first scoop on our reveals.

I solemnly swear to only include the good stuff and no fluff. No spam, pinky promise.
